A direct-shift gearbox or DSG (taken from the German Direkt-Schalt-Getriebe), is an electronically controlled dual-clutch multiple-shaft gearbox in a transaxle design, with automatic clutch and fully automatic or semi-manual gear selection.
By using two independent clutches,a DSG can achieve faster shift times, resulting in better fuel econom(up to 15% improvement) no loss of torque transmission during gear changes.

We recommend having the gearbox oil and filter changed every 40k/80k miles (depending on gearbox model) to ensure this computer controlled equipment is kept at peak condition and to avoid un-necessary problems and greater cost of repair.
